Bitter Pill

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Baggage Check.”

A few weeks ago I was hurt by someone. Struggling to deal with it, I want to lash out. My human nature craves revenge. I hate how you hurt me. I hate how I allowed you to hurt me. Daily, nightly I have to seek a soft heart. Forgiveness, love, hope and faith. Past experience has taught me that is the only way.

  1. I think recognizing and acknowledging your hurt and desire to lash out is the first step to moving beyond it. I love how you also state that you seek a soft heart. May your soft heart arrive promptly!

      1. This is a mantra I use when I am struggling emotionally. It is from a book titled A Path With Heart. “May I be filled with loving kindness. May I be peaceful and at ease. My I be happy. May I be well.” The book suggests that you will know the conflict of emotion is resolved when you offer the same words but insert the transgressor’s name instead of asking for peace and loving kindness for yourself.
