Writing a Better Me

Southern Hemisphere Lovin’ Gal
Springtime celebrated every year
This September brought a fresh Summertime Dose
Of turmoil, agony and despair

Not knowing what to do, and where to go
How to get rid of this darkness within
I looked to the sun, and saw brightness and light
I looked within, and felt courage and life

So many words flowing forth from my heart
I started to write, I started to type
And every day ever since
I have written, I have typed

Words arising, healing, flowing
Understanding a little more of my soul within
Therapeuting, growing, empathising
Passionating my way to be a better me –

In the depths of despair I held out my arms
And was gently lifted from the dark well surrounds
To a higher, brighter, sun-drenched place
Of life, and light, and safety

Playing with Light!

Strolling along in The heat of the afternoon I look up ahead

Strolling along in
The heat of the afternoon
I look up ahead

Triangle of blue Catches my eye, I would say Sky blue and it is!

Triangle of blue
Catches my eye, I would say
Sky blue and it is!

Further up I look And the blue changes a shade - Growing light, but why?

Further up I look
And the blue changes a shade –
Growing light, but why?

Raise my eyes towards Heaven above, what could be The possible cause?

Raise my eyes towards
Heaven above, what could be
The possible cause?

There it is, I see Most stunning, awesome round ball Vision of pure light

There it is, I see
Most stunning, awesome round ball
Vision of pure light

Shining from above Beaming rays of sunshine warmth Embracing the earth

Shining from above
Beaming rays of sunshine warmth
Embracing the earth

My heart once again Sings out at the miracle Been given to us

My heart once again
Sings out at the miracle
Been given to us

That we would have but A sun as fine as the one Shining forth today!

That we would have but
A sun as fine as the one
Shining forth today!

History’s Legacy

Hard Drive has been unearthed
There is a year underneath

2014, can you believe?
That makes it like 200 years old

And what is more
There is a note attached

Very old English
These words we don’t even understand

A note from the owner
The name is Vonita

What would be written?
Handwritten, can you believe?
Captured on paper so antique
Wow, in those days paper was used
Notes all written by hand!

There is a book contained on this drive
It is called Passion through Poetry
In fact there are two books
A children’s book too, Sweet Marigold

And a lot of formatting being done
Mac Pages Enhance button was discovered today
So awesome, it is really a feature of the future

This special day what would it be?
3 November 2014

And there is an image of my mother
That I scanned in today
Taken in about 1954

What would her Legacy be?
What would my Legacy be?

It might not be my books
It might be the lessons I teach my two souls
That they might teach their souls
And on it goes
For years and decades and centuries in turn

My Legacy might not be my words
But then again, it might

Home Visit!

The craziest, busiest, most hectic day
Could only be, too infrequently
When I arrive back “home”
Surrounded by friends and family

There are so many people to see
So many loved faces to greet
Cities and homes and shopping malls
All the places I used to frequent!

Rush around, can’t get enough
Make a list of who I need to meet
Coffee here and visit there
Travelling between two cities fair
(Jozi and Pretoria)

It is too much for husband dear
Too many people!
As many people as she would have words
No! Please let me stay at home

At home in Sydney, you go alone!
Yes, I’ll go alone, and take the minions too
They can run around with me!
Introduce them to another life

And amongst all this excitement
Flying here and driving there
I turned the Big Four Oh and so I did
And to my surprise, and to my Delight

My dear darling friends
Whom I have not seen in quite a while
Surprised me with a surprise I did not expect
This beautiful cake, left me with no words to say
(Doesn’t happen often)

It went too fast, the days flew by
Not one day, but twenty repeat
Resurface to a life now dead
Will have to do

Until I resurface again
