Milestones

My mother never made it to fifty. She passed a few days before she turned 45. I am not there yet, but will be soon (a few short years). What would I do differently if I only had till then? I guess a big thing is, I would stop sweating the small stuff. Being discontent. Just enjoy each day. Be kinder and less self-absorbed.

And if I am spared to see fifty, I will plan a holiday. And then enjoy it!

    • Thank you, she had an unexpected heart attack whilst on holiday with my dad, it was quite sudden, but I don’t believe she suffered too much, so that is good.

  1. Your mum passed away much too young. My mum’s mother died when she was fifty, and my mother thought she would die young too, but she lived to be a centenarian. So start planning that holiday! 🙂

  2. My mom died shortly before her 55th birthday. I remember when I crossed that age thinking that I was now in uncharted territory. As I approach my 60th birthday in October, I wonder how my mom would be handling all of the changes that occur around this milestone.

    • I’m sorry to hear that. My mother in law died when she was sixty, and I miss her a lot, though it was sad when we left for Australia and she stayed in South Africa. We still breathe, so thankful for that! Xx

  3. I believe you will live a long life. I think this would make your mother happy to know you are a warm, kind and special woman who will surpass her expectations and dreams. I hope you aren’t a little worried (or more) but glad you had her as long as you did. No regrets, Vonita. Only love, sweet love.
