In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Land of Confusion.”
I am doing a writing course. But I have not been able to write anything!
When I am asked to write something for an assignment, I cannot. There are simply no words. Blank space. Vapor. At the moment we are workshopping around the room and I have nothing. Nothing at all! I cannot write on demand.

😀 I completely agree, same Happened with me when I was doing my creative writing course..but I tell you a lot of writing happens after that 🙂

Does it take the creativity out of the process? I haven’t tried it myself but thinking it might add some stress to writing.

I think it is might be the pressure of having to write something. It is like my brain just says no!

I have brain-freeze, it makes me wonder if I can write at all! And everyone else have such wonderful stories, I feel left out. So you are not alone!

Take one word that is part of an assignment and put in on a piece of paper in the middle. Don’t try to think just put words around the first word that come into your head. Keep going adding word after word. I’ll bet after a few minutes a pattern will appear and then a sentence or two. Eventually an idea will emerge. I hope this helps. It works for me.

I’ve found a writers group really helpful as we discus ideas and inspiration. This can help when I’m stuck when I think oh Alan said this or Linda said that providing not a theft of another’s story but a shared inspiration to write an original piece of my own.

Sometimes we can be just too analytical, too many thoughts…inspiration needs a clear mind and an open heart.
