I have to go, I said
I don’t want you to, she replied
Please don’t go, she asked
I gave her a hug
Felt her soft shiny hair
Looked into her blue eyes
Turning around
I walked out the door
To a pain in my heart
And tears unspilt
I have to go, I said
I don’t want you to, she replied
Please don’t go, she asked
I gave her a hug
Felt her soft shiny hair
Looked into her blue eyes
Turning around
I walked out the door
To a pain in my heart
And tears unspilt
It’s pointless to leave an established peace for an anticipated peace.

Oh so sad. Reminds me of leaving children at nursery while dads and mums go off to work.

Yes, that was me going off to work this morning, and my daughter would like me to stay at home. It won’t be long before she won’t be needing me anymore, she’s already nine.

Leaving the ones we love is a pain almost too much to bear
