Unfinished

My current pile of unfinished books consists of a Dale Carnegie classic “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living”, a Rumi poetry book gifted to me by my beautiful friend nia,ย and below that “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr. Non-fiction, poetry and fiction all stacked in a pile next to my bed. Happiness is…

Midnight Reading

Daily Inspirations by Erika Kind

On Saturday I received my much-anticipated 101 Kind Quotesย  physical copy created by my dear friend Erika Kind from I’m Free. First up, I want to say how wonderful it is to be able to hold it in my hands and to browse through it freely. Each quote is set on an accompanying image and has Erika’s trademark butterfly presented on it. So much to inspire. And much about love. My favorites are those revolving around love “Love is the cause, the key, and the result. Love is all that is“. There are 101 quotes, so perfect for choosing one daily at random,ย  or to read in one sitting. I am really glad and thankful for this beautiful book, and for all the love that has gone into creating it.

Thank you Erika, for your wonderful community presence, and for all that you do for us. We love and appreciate you! โค

Heart and Soul

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Victory.”

Pleased to say I started reading this book gifted to me Christmas 2008, and finally finished it. This sure is a victory. Only took me 7 years to get there. Has anyone else read it? Are there any Maeve Binchy fans? What half-read book to read next?

Imagination

I read some words
Transporting me to worlds anew
And when the words came to an end
My world was different than before
But yet, it was still the same
Unchanged, just as it had
Always been

Not My Will

FullSizeRender-9

I dated a Polish boyfriend when I was at university. After we both started working, he began to hint at rings. I felt too young to get married, and also had reservations about marrying him. Though he was a lovely person and would make a great husband, I felt in my heart that we were not meant to be. So I ended the relationship. It took a few attempts. Breaking up is never easy, especially when there is no third party involved.

In ending the relationship when I did, I freed us both to meet our respective long-term partners. He met and married a beautiful woman. It took me three years to meet my husband. By this time I really wanted to be married, and have a family. My clock is ticking people, I’m halfway to thirty! Please! Only one man out of the whole world, surely that is not such a great request! It was only after pleading on my knees, that I finally came to a place of calm submission. Not my will but thine be done. Those words and prayer did not come easily. Not at all. And soon after, my husband-to-be and I started a relationship, and married soon after.

Sometimes we have to give up something to be open to receiving something better. And to have the spirit โ€“ not my will but thine be done. A prayer that goes against human nature, and all that our flesh would be.

I acted on kind feedback from others yesterday, and bought a new book!

Happy reading to me ๐Ÿ™‚

Sweet Marigold!

I just wrote a book!
Well, I am editing my first
But now what do I have here?
Slipping through my fingers?
Flowing through my hands

In all of ten minutes
I have met Sweet Marigold
The hero of her very own tale
For little children so dear

For mum in question (that would be me)
Am always in trouble
For bedtime reading is not
My favorite thing to do
The words are too long
The sentences never end
Making me tired before I even start

That is no good!
For daughter already eight
And son nearly grown!

But babies are always being born
Growing into little children that
Would need stories to be read

And now we have Sweet Marigold!
She is so happy with bouncy curly hair
Seeing all the beauty around
All the flowers and petals and butterflies and bees
Gifts of nature keeping her company!

Coming soon!
After Passion Through Poetry!

It is written! We need drawings, they are in my head!
I, an artist, have never been
So will have to recruit one
To bring life to my Sweet Marigold!
We love Sweet Marigold!
