Legacy

image.jpeg

I see you in my dreams
I hear you in my mind
I feel you in my heart

I remember the very night
You flew from the land
And from my life

I am married now
I have a beautiful boy
And a daughter who looks like you

You are a grandmother now
Your legacy to the world
Your purpose lives on

I live your lessons every day
In my heart and in my life
And all I have is one tiny message

From my heart to yours
After all this time and what has been
Your baby girl is okay

  1. There is nothing like the memories of love from a grandmother!

i cherish all of my grandmother memories, even though i don’t believe i will still light a candle at the church grandmother would drag this young child, most weekends…

    i loved you grandma!

Your little sonny, and grandson chris

    1. That’s so sweet, so glad to hear about your grandmother. This was written about my mother actually, it was titled ‘message to my mother’ but then I renamed it legacy for the daily prompt. She has passed 20 years this year (1996). Xx

      1. i not really sure, however she had been in a comma for sometime!

From what i remember throughout childhood, she was always in the hospital…

i just had loving memory, my mother an i would play solitaire often together!

i also remember she had wonderfully beautiful red hair!

Thanks i had thought about her in sometime! The memories has brought brightness to my beginning of this brandnew day!

        hugs & kisses chris

Here you go darling, she’s the younger one, the other is my Father’s mother, my grandma..

Grandma, would take me on egg selling in her neighbourhood, then on the way back, we would dig in garbage, just as i do today!

        hugs chris

      3. Thank you for sharing this very poignant photograph. I am glad you have a reminder of your mother! Why was your grandmother digging in garbage (I’m only asking this because it seems such an unusual thing for a grandmother to do, of course you have explained your situation, but your grandmother wasn’t in the same situation, was she?) hugs x

      4. That is a good question, you know honestly, i really gave it no thought!

i would think, something she learned as a child…

Besides, you really can’t imagine what you can find,

        in a throwaway society..

        i hope this was helpful..

        kisses within a warm huge,

        chris

      5. Well, being that i had never wrote anything more than nothing,

my english skills an or spelling,

can be questionable in the dyer-sweetness of fun loving times..

i am childlike curiosity about the word “too, rather than “to or two”

so in fun loving blogging i often create words and struggle with proper use of words..

Henceforth my obsession with the word “too”!

        Does this help?

        kiss chris kiss

      1. Yes, you do!

No snow in Vancouver, however on the lions Mountains in the Northshore have a dusting or two..

        And you, American i presume,

Mr. Trump will make fine President!

        In my belief anyway…

        hugs chris

      2. Not American, though will be there in four weeks today (two week vacation)! My first visit, never been there before. I am born South African, but have been in Sydney, Australia for the past eight years, and became a citizen a few years back. So am now South African Australian, my maternal grandmother was Scottish, as a result I hold a British Ancestral visa 🙂

      3. It is nice here, but gets really boiling hot at times. We are blessed in genera. I would love to see Canada and the Rocky Mountains, must be so beautiful!

We also have four different seasons..

i live in BC, for me there is only parking lot on the other side of the Rockies… All the way to the Atlantic Ocean!

    1. Oh, thank you Krystyna, for your empathy! I wrote this a while back and then thought it has the word legacy in it which is today’s daily prompt, so felt to share it 💝

  2. It is true that parents will always see their children as babies. I have a 24 year old son and a 21 year old daughter, I still kiss and hug them like they are babies. But I can no longer carry them in my arms. They’re both heavier than me. Hahaha!
