Hi,
Does anyone else struggle with the new reader? All the poetry I normally enjoy reading is now appearing unformatted, and appearing without line breaks in the appropriate places! Making it really difficult to read.
Anyone’s thoughts?
Hi,
Does anyone else struggle with the new reader? All the poetry I normally enjoy reading is now appearing unformatted, and appearing without line breaks in the appropriate places! Making it really difficult to read.
Anyone’s thoughts?
I’ve found that posting poetry in “html” mode makes my single line breaks stick. Hope that helps!

Thanks, I’ve noticed that some poetry contains line breaks but most don’t! Will use html more thanks!

I have not much experience with the former reader. I just started reading posts from the reader and therefore I have no problems. You don’t miss what you don’t know… 😉

I don’t mind change, it is just that most of the poetry is appearing without line breaks making it impossible to read! And really hard on the eyes!
LikeLiked by 1 person
That is true. But you only need to cklick on that post and the poem appears in paragraphs.

Many people on WordPress have complained about the new Reader, I am one of them! I agree that it’s making catching up on posts difficult and awkward, I find my eyes are really straining to adjust and it’s giving me a headache – I’m definitely not impressed!

Neither am I! My eyes are also feeling strained and what used to be an easy experience now feels awkward.

I don’t like it either, but then again, I’m not very good with change.

It’s not so much the change I mind it’s the fact that most of the poetry is appearing without line breaks!

I’m very good with changes, especially tech stuff. This is not well thought out in many respects.

The obliteration of formatting for the poets and anyone who writes in verse is simply not right.

Agreed, one day in and I don’t feel like reading anymore, most of my reader is filled with poetry and verse, so if I am unable to read it (or have to click on every post individually) then I probably won’t bother!

Does anyone know what the second page if for? Does it have a function?

I don’t know what it is for!

We should be able to click once and be in the blog where the formatting and writers design for the blog set-up

So glad I am not the only one not impressed, one improvement is that the follow button has been moved because I was always unfollowing people.

Which follow button are you referring to – I haven’t noticed it.

It used to be under the blogs name, now they’ve moved it munder a menu on the right.i was always unfollowing blogs by mistake.now it’s located off the page under a menu.

Poetry is as visual as it is written words, in terms of the authors intent and interpretation thereof.

I agree I thought it was just me, I’m not impressed with this new format at all.

The reader is still awful… It still doesn’t show all the blogs I follow. I’m now using feedly. 🙂

Ah that’s interesting, I haven’t used feedly before!

Try it… It has an android and iPhone version. I think you will enjoy it compared to the “aaargh” reader. 🙂

It’s driving me crazy. I click to read as the poem is meant to be read, then I get lost going back to the reader. I noticed the comment about html format, and will try it.

Will try it too. Some poems (haiku) are really ahort, so it’s annoying having to click just to read a three line poem!

Third day using. No easier/better with familiarity. Amazingly not user friendly for the bloggers’ needs. Going to make a list, starting with the cumbersome, and as far as I can see, useless second page.

Yes, I think it terrible!!! 😦 I hope WordPress gets rid of it as fast as possible, it’s totally unnecessary. I’m sure given a bit of time it will begin to dawn on some WordPress bloggers who either advertise in their sidebars or promote their own products or books that their sidebars are not showing in that view. It means a lot more views of blog posts will not be seen on the actual blog. Just wondering if the idiot who thought that idea up even thought of that? Does WordPress want to lose all of those bloggers? I think they are certainly heading for a lot of advertising blogs to swiftly move to another kind of blog. I don’t personally advertise, but I do have promotions of books and sometimes art in my sidebar for blog friends. I do it as a thank you instead of blog awards which I really dislike. It seems to work well. But I’m wondering now if WordPress have just seriously lowered the amount of potential views for those links and also other links I have of my own.
If you want to get from the mini post in the Reader direct to the blog just click on the main post title and (open in a new tab) you will quickly arrive on the blog as we did before all this new rubbish.
I’m sure there will be a lot of bloggers who won’t like this change, and there is sure to be a forum (complaint page) somewhere. If you want to find WordPress forums it’s best to Google your subject of enquiry with a date and you should find up to date posts on that subject.
I’m glad to see someone mentioning this. I might do the same soon!

I still just read blogs from my email notifications, Vonita. Old school old man Mark avoiding the Reader problems. But if it’s causing me views, I’m pissed!

Costing me views, that is, as others are saying in your comments.

I rely on the reader quite heavily. Have you noticed any difference in your views? My views have declined but that’s probably because of my posting frequency, also I may be posting a bit less from now on, it’s going somewhat crazy in my world!
