New Reader

Hi,

Does anyone else struggle with the new reader? All the poetry I normally enjoy reading is now appearing unformatted, and appearing without line breaks in the appropriate places! Making it really difficult to read.

Anyone’s thoughts?

  1. Many people on WordPress have complained about the new Reader, I am one of them! I agree that it’s making catching up on posts difficult and awkward, I find my eyes are really straining to adjust and it’s giving me a headache – I’m definitely not impressed!

    1. Agreed, one day in and I don’t feel like reading anymore, most of my reader is filled with poetry and verse, so if I am unable to read it (or have to click on every post individually) then I probably won’t bother!

  2. Third day using. No easier/better with familiarity. Amazingly not user friendly for the bloggers’ needs. Going to make a list, starting with the cumbersome, and as far as I can see, useless second page.

  3. Yes, I think it terrible!!! 😦 I hope WordPress gets rid of it as fast as possible, it’s totally unnecessary. I’m sure given a bit of time it will begin to dawn on some WordPress bloggers who either advertise in their sidebars or promote their own products or books that their sidebars are not showing in that view. It means a lot more views of blog posts will not be seen on the actual blog. Just wondering if the idiot who thought that idea up even thought of that? Does WordPress want to lose all of those bloggers? I think they are certainly heading for a lot of advertising blogs to swiftly move to another kind of blog. I don’t personally advertise, but I do have promotions of books and sometimes art in my sidebar for blog friends. I do it as a thank you instead of blog awards which I really dislike. It seems to work well. But I’m wondering now if WordPress have just seriously lowered the amount of potential views for those links and also other links I have of my own.

If you want to get from the mini post in the Reader direct to the blog just click on the main post title and (open in a new tab) you will quickly arrive on the blog as we did before all this new rubbish.

I’m sure there will be a lot of bloggers who won’t like this change, and there is sure to be a forum (complaint page) somewhere. If you want to find WordPress forums it’s best to Google your subject of enquiry with a date and you should find up to date posts on that subject.

I’m glad to see someone mentioning this. I might do the same soon!

      1. I rely on the reader quite heavily. Have you noticed any difference in your views? My views have declined but that’s probably because of my posting frequency, also I may be posting a bit less from now on, it’s going somewhat crazy in my world!
