I looked for love
Not realizing that you were right there
I looked past you
Seeking a happiness that couldn’t be found
You watched me
While I scanned my surroundings
You held my hand
When I ached for contact
I brushed it away
As if it had never happened
And when I cried
You wiped my tears
So gently that I never noticed
And then
In a sudden moment
My eyes opened
I saw
I realized
I noticed

Sometimes we are so blind that we don’t see that what we are looking for is already there. Beautiful, Vonita.

Have you read Gone With The Wind? This reminds me of that so much! Scarlet and Rhett had a relationship of much the same effect.
And yes we do not sometimes realize how close is someone who loves us while we keep searching everywhere else. Such pain and beauty mingled together in your words!

Oh you should. It is by Margaret Mitchell about American Civil War. But don’t watch the movie though starring Vivien Leigh, it’s a total mess.
