In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Imitation/Flattery.”
To write in the style of another writer
Would be an impossible thing to do
For writing is as a signature
However hard you try and imitate
It will always be in the style
Of the one and only you
#thiswaswritteninthestyleofme
Such truth ❤

This is a great poem and very true! However, as far as writing prompts go, I think it is possible to try and be a doppelganger of sorts. I am pretty sure there is an annual writing contest in which writers attempt their best Hemingway impression

That sounds like fun! I tried to think of the style of some bloggers, and it just felt wrong to try and imitate them! And of course there is the question of which one to choose!

I know what you mean. I think it’s easier to do with writers who sort of have a “gimmick,” but sometimes a writer just has a natural, effortless approach that simply cannot be replicated. Also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Imitation_Hemingway_Competition
