I said goodbye to a friend of mine
So I could walk into my future alone and free
And I knew the goodbye would be forever
That never would I hear the voice of that soul
Again, but in my dreams a voice sounds out
To me, and when I awake, the voice so clear
Is of an old friend of mine, a friend I chose to
Forever farewell

I’m sorry that you had to say goodbye to a friend. In a way however, you are able to gain clarity, and can move on, and in the end, and sometimes for the future (of yourself) it can be the best decision for yourself.
