In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Tight Corner.”
I spoke myself into a corner
When I spoke the words I should not say
And while I waited for the paint to dry
I wrote poetry and wished the day away
I spoke myself into a corner but yesterday
Or was it husband who spoke himself into his
When I admitted the cycling feats of my BFF
Cycling feats I could never hope to achieve
Well, impressed was he
And when I saw how impressed he was
A very unimpressed was I
While we waited for the paint to dry
We let each other be
Until sorry was said
And it wasn’t going to be me

“Three days since the living room
We realized we’re both to blame, but what could we do?
Yesterday you just smiled at me
Cause it’ll still be two days till we say we’re sorry”

Too many potentially pleasant afternoons and evenings have been lost to silence between my partner and I because neither was willing to apologize for crossing one boundary or another. You have captured this feeling very accurately! Love this!

Thank you, he doesn’t often cross my boundaries, but he did say sorry when he realized he had 🙂
