With veins of black running through –
White stars on its wings

Angel of Love

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Daring Do.”

I’m in the water
Watching my son as he would
Dive in, swim back and dive in again
When very gently my face is turned
To my little girl who is under
I see arms bands on the side
And a daughter far from me
Touched by an angel of love
By grace I could reach her in time
For my baby girl to breathe again

Wasting Time

I wait for you to call
But the phone never rings
I wait for you to text
But my mobile never beeps
I wait for you to email
But no email ever arrives
I wait for you to Skype
But Skype never sounds
I wait for any small sign
To show that you might think of me
Until I can finally deny no more
That your thoughts are not on me
And I realise with a pain so raw
That my waiting has been nothing more
Than wasting all my time

You Don’t Bring Me Flowers

You don’t bring me flowers anymore
I don’t smile the smile that sets yours heart aglow
You don’t caress the way you always used to do
I don’t embrace your soul the way I was able to
You don’t love me anymore
I won’t ever stop loving you
You don’t, I won’t, we can’t – my heart
Is crushed like flowers you don’t bring me
When I see we are no more

Rewriting History

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly writing challenge: “Hindsight is 20-20.”

(I)
If I could rewrite
History, would perhaps do
All the same again

(II)
I would learn wisdom
But alas, lessons are best
Learnt by mistaking

(III)
If I could rewrite
Anything, it would be your
Timeless love for me

Hello

Hello again
It’s been awhile
You’ve been too long
The silence has been eating away
And now you’re back
To say hello
Hello
