A Child

Born in innocence
The love of a child
Seed falling to earth
To germinate and grow
Becoming citizens of this
World, each babe that is born
Carries a light and a love
Holy blessings bestow
Keeping company with
Truth and liberty, to
Brighten our world

Thank you for your kind
Words of support, I will reply
To each one a bit later

Sweet Marigold and Coco

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Easy Fix.”

Introducing you to Sweet Marigold
The heroine of her own adventures –
For children and their bedtime stories

Sweet Marigold woke up in a panic
She had been having a bad dream
About her beloved bunny Coco
And how he couldn’t be found anywhere!

She sat up quickly in her bed
With tears in her blue eyes
And fear gripping her heart
Her golden hair full of bouncy curls

No time to waste – she jumped up
Out of bed, and started to search!
Oh Coco, where are you?
She went to his hutch to have a look

And to her horror and fright –
The hutch was empty, Coco was not there!
Oh no, where could he be?
Where was the bunny she loved?

She looked here and there
She looked everywhere
She looked under tables
She looked under chairs

She looked under bushes
She looked under trees
High and low, and roundabout
Sweet Marigold left no petal unturned

Until finally
Coco! Silly bunny!
For right there in her home
Was Coco lying all at ease

Baby Brother had let Coco out
And made him a paper crown
Her little heart leaped with joy
When she say him resting there

She gave her bunny the biggest hug
And held him close to her chest
Feeling his heart beat against her own
Two young hearts beating as one

Filling her with love and joy
And happiness in her heart
Her worry and fear was gone
And all was right in the world

Angel of Love

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Daring Do.”

I’m in the water
Watching my son as he would
Dive in, swim back and dive in again
When very gently my face is turned
To my little girl who is under
I see arms bands on the side
And a daughter far from me
Touched by an angel of love
By grace I could reach her in time
For my baby girl to breathe again

Reindeer For Children

Reindeer shining
Reindeer bright
Lights a-glowing
Lighting the night

To all little children
Around the world
Sleep well tonight
Only one more to go!

Bunny Tale

My daughter wrote a story
About a bunny feeling sad
He longed to be at a party
Was excluded from the crowd
Another bunny empathized
With bunny feeling sad
He felt his pain of being
Discarded, left alone
So kindness overtook
And bunny number two
Invited him to go along
To join in with the fun
So bunny was included
He was not left alone
He went along and at the end
His feelings were all glad

The End

Magical World

Every morning as it arrives
I hear the distant, early sounds
Of birds and traffic, and many things
Gently welcoming me awake

Until I hear not far from me
The sound of not one voice, but two
Familiar voices they seem to be
Little girl, and I hear a boy’s one too

I wish I could wax lyrical
On how pleasing these voices are to me
But left alone, awake and free
These voices are not in harmony

Brother and sister in daily strife
For when one is ten, and one is eight
There are many things that must be shared
Not so easy as it may seem

So in my daily awakening, I get to hear
The secret dialogue between
My baby girl and first born prince
Conflicts, fighting, pleading, sharing

I lie awake and let them be
In the shadows overhear –
The magical world one would live in
When one is eight, and one is ten

Sweet Marigold!

I just wrote a book!
Well, I am editing my first
But now what do I have here?
Slipping through my fingers?
Flowing through my hands

In all of ten minutes
I have met Sweet Marigold
The hero of her very own tale
For little children so dear

For mum in question (that would be me)
Am always in trouble
For bedtime reading is not
My favorite thing to do
The words are too long
The sentences never end
Making me tired before I even start

That is no good!
For daughter already eight
And son nearly grown!

But babies are always being born
Growing into little children that
Would need stories to be read

And now we have Sweet Marigold!
She is so happy with bouncy curly hair
Seeing all the beauty around
All the flowers and petals and butterflies and bees
Gifts of nature keeping her company!

Coming soon!
After Passion Through Poetry!

It is written! We need drawings, they are in my head!
I, an artist, have never been
So will have to recruit one
To bring life to my Sweet Marigold!
We love Sweet Marigold!

Empty Swing

Neighbors empty swing
Echoing the voices of
Children now grown up

Living Room Farm

A farm has descended
In my living room while I
Have been on my phone!
