Night

A family in Sydney lost their eldest son (19) a few years back. He was punched in a random one-punch attack while out in the city one night with his girlfriend. The perpetrator was under the influence.

Yesterday his younger brother was found dead. Also at the age of 19. I cannot comprehend how the parents are expected to cope. Losing both sons at the age of 19 four years apart. Unimaginable pain and loss. Never ending.

Love your loved ones please, tomorrow their day might be night.

  1. Never be too busy or too sure of tomorrow to tell those you love how you feel. There may not be another chance. While it is true there are “no words”, if you must say something, sorry will often suffice. A touch on the hand, the shoulder… can often say more. Just be there. If you are of a mind to do something, bring a meal. When my daughter died food was one of the last things on my mind but there were other children to consider.

      1. Jacqueline died approximately three weeks before her second birthday. She had her heart repaired when she turned one but the lungs had been so badly damaged and that was before lung transplants. Peace!

    1. The one-punch perpetrator is serving ten years, the second death may have been sadly self-inflicted. He was living with scars from his brother’s death. So terribly sad!

      1. It is not confirmed, except to say that no foul play was suspected, and he had previously spoken out about the pain of losing his brother (with lifeline number listed). I cannot imagine what the parents are going through!
