My son started high school today (not exactly sure of the term used elsewhere?). Here I am pictured with my baby boy who was at that time maybe 8 weeks old? Working in IT with all the stress and late nights that came with it, made new born babies seem like a walk in the park. And now he is in high school with a broken voice and taller than his mom. I’m not sure I’m ready for this next stage! Of assignments and exams and pressure and responsibility. I’ve been having flashbacks of my high school years in a convent. Are they good flashbacks, my son asked. Not the ones I’m getting, I had to admit! And life is dragging me along, ready or not.

I happens so fast, it is crazy. My middle child (son, 16) is like you describe yours and my daughter already moved out! Such a beautiful photo, Vonita!

Today, my son drives himself into school solo for the very first time! He is in the middle of 4th form (sophomore year: 10th grade) He talks resentment that I will be following him in my car, but the evaporation of anxiety in his face that accompanied this news belies his protestations. Congratulations on the milestone!

Congrats on getting this far! I think my son was the same that I’ve been on the bus with him in the morning, next week he is going it alone! Thanks for stopping by 😊

He made the solo trip in and out without mishap! 1 down 482 to go! Then he’s off to university!

Wow! Does he know what he would like to study? It is a bit daunting to know that after the next few years, then there is a world of choice, decisions on what to do next!

He thinks he knows… I think he will probably end up somewhere in the entertainment industry. He loves electronic games and is thinking he is going to be a “game designer”. Since he has been involved in local theater since he was 5 and loves both history and English literature, I can see him on stage, or behind the scenes in production, or writing. In the last 3 years, he has performed in 3 plays and 2 musicals and is now stage tech for a play next week and has another musical in the May. In short, I think he will trend in that general direction.

…then you will see he married and he is a father 🙂 It was same for me too dear Vonita, how the years passed you can’t understand. For a moment I went back as you… now he is a father and tries to stop his baby’s crying… 🙂 Good luck for your son, and wish him a nice term, by the way this photograph is so nice. And by they way I made ready your surprise today, just I need to go to the post office as soon as possible. 🙂 But be ready it takes time to deliver them to you 🙂 we will see how long… I will write you again when I send them. Thank you, have a nice day, and wonderful school time without any problem… Love, nia

Frightening just how fast time moves on. I turned 60 on the 15th January and my youngest will be 18 on the 1st February.. 2 big milestones close together and it really has left me reflecting on how in the big scheme of things the span of our lives is tiny…I wish your son, and you both look so lovely in the photo, much happiness and fulfillment at High School. My thoughts are with you at this major crossroads in your lives…take care.😊

Cute picture. You look so happy with your then little boy. There will be lots of places to drive your son, or teach your son to drive to, if he gets involved in extra-curricular activities which are always good for applications to university. I’m getting ahead of you, but I wanted to say the older they grow, means a little more time for you and the chance to develope a different kind of relationship with your son eventually as an adult. Good luck with HS starting for you and your son.
