I scratched my fingers
Against the door
I scratched until they
Were red and raw
The door stayed closed
The lock unturned
The blinds kept down
My love returned
I had to go
I could not stay
I had to leave
Just turn away
I left then
And I let go
Of frozen men
In melting snow

The first line inspired by a comment by the beautiful Erika Kind and the rest just popped out.

  1. Awesome, Vonita! You expressed that feeling in an amazing way of not wanting to move on but being forced to. It is not wort to chafe the fingers for frozen men! The good thing is that snowmen are melting by themselves over time. Fantastic poem!!! 💖
