she stands with her back to the camp fire under a black velvet sky strewn with chips of diamond the trees surrounding the camp seem to undulate a quick flicker chance dance reflecting the flames at first only twin points of light the eyes of the wolf she holds out her empty hand her offering he approaches wary. . .
