The world is burning alive
Raging red fires lick the Earth
Catching the sky by surprise
Destruction is all around
Desolation in its entirety
Until the hunger is satiated
And finally calmness abounds
From the heat of the fire
Peace descends and rising
Out of the burnt dry black—
New life
Inspired by an initial poem of mine:

This always amazes me. I live in an area with a lot of forest preserves and prairie lands – natural prairie lands. Every year, there is a controlled burn going on somewhere. When I first moved to Illinois I thought it strange and though I understood the reason for it, I felt like the dead leftovers would last for a very long time. I was very much mistaken. It is incredible how nature bounces back…amazing, really.

Yes, there is the same controlled burning in Australia as well 🙂

Yes! You are finding ways to become the new growth out of seeming desolation, and both as a writer and a person, that’s great, healthy stuff. Good on you. Just happens I’m posting about it today, too. 🙂
