Surviving the roads of
Johannesburg, or Jozi as it is
Lovingly named, by those who
Would bravely call the city their home
Is no small accomplishment, where
Drivers exceed the speed limits at will
And potholes randomly occur
With no band-aid in sight
Here is a glimpse of the roads in the
City I called home until the day arrived
When I flew away

  1. I can assure you that when I leave SA for good one of the things that I’ll miss most is the roads. They are much better than many those of other African countries (although I’m not suggesting that the government shouldn’t do its job to improve them). If you see the potholes in my country you can cry.

      1. See, I didn’t know that! Interesting…my daughter’s teaching in China, and one of her Asian friend decided to get herself ‘westernized’ by watching Sex and the City, and goes around saying how sexy she is. My daughter says ‘We’ve ruined the world.’
