If my question to you may be
Do I look good in my outfit today?
Please, oh please, do lie to me
For I do not mind
If you say the words I would want to hear
Lies, if little and sweet, are music to my ear
If my question to you may be
Do you like my style today?
Please, oh please, do lie to me
For I do not mind
If whispers are whispered quietly
Whispers, if little and sweet, are music to my heart
If my question to you may be
Do you love me for who I am
Please, oh please, don’t lie to me
For my heart can’t take the pain
Of hearing words that would cut through
To the essence of me, leaving me wounded
Leaving me scarred

I wish I could be as simple and elegant with words. Thank you for a beautiful and poignant poem.

I do adore this piece tons! You did a splendid job of it! And that title’s all but tantalizing! A great concept it is! I’m mesmerized! *laughing*
A lie is a lie is a lie! Sometimes though, its all what we wanna hear; living a fool’s paradise and plunging deeper into self-denial! I guess its all just a protective or defence mechanism, which can only but offer little solace! Only the truth has the full capacity to liberate and set one free! Homefree as a bird! LOL
