Into Eternity

I thought of how

I would never hear your voice again

I would never hear you tell me

You love me for one last time

I thought of how

Our hugs had all been hugged

Our words had all been shared

Our memories had all been made

And I wondered how long

Eternity could be

Last Song

IMG_3759.JPG

And when our lives come to an end
What will our thoughts be then?
What will we think, what will we feel
Would we want our lives again?

Will we be at peace, or be at rest?
Or never want to go
To say goodbye to earthly life
And all that we do know

Ever After

I will believe

In rainbows and roses

And kittens and snowdrops

In silhouette poses

And golden sunflowers

I will believe

That no one can hinder

True joy and laughter

That cruelty and war

And man’s quest for power

Is tied to this world

This natural form

I will believe

That all pain will pass

In a life ever after.

Life

My soul is your breath

Breathed into me

My heart is your love

Beating inside of me

My spirit is a flame

Of your eternal power

My life is a moment

Of eternity

A Short While

For a short while

We have breath

Our hearts beat

We feel

We love

We hurt

We cry

For one short while only

Before our breath

Stops.

Ticking Clock

Every second
Every heartbeat
Every ticking of the clock

Counts down each hour
Until I stand upon
Eternity’s shore

Look Up

Burying a Child

Today I went to a funeral of a child. A child so full of life and enthusiasm and joy. I cannot even begin to imagine what the parents are going through, how the pain in their heart will make each new day seem impossible. No parent should have to bury their child. And yet it happens. I have friends (more than one) who have lost a child. We are born into this life. And one day we will die. We are not told when or how. I try and teach my children this. Do not be afraid of death. Because it can happen to anyone at anytime. It is up to us to make each day count, for we are not guaranteed another. Peace be with you.

Wilderness

Wandering in the wilderness
Drifting far I roam
My heart cries out for Thee
My soul holds out for home

My Savior watches over me
My Savior, Lord of all
Reigning in His Kingdom
He hears my desperate call

With arm and love outstretched
The King extends His Hand
Rejoicing, I surrender
To His eternal land

Soar

Soaring
Soaring high
Soaring where my wings can fly

Release me now
Release my strife
Release me to eternal life
