Lamingtons

This is the evil sight that welcomed us at work today. A belated Australia Day special. Lamingtons, because Australia!

(And the missing one was mine 🙂 )

Canvas Of Words

Poetry is

The air we breath
The life we live
The dreams we dream

Poetry is

A symphony
A ballet of dance
A canvas of words

Poetry is

All
And nothing
And everything in between

Floating

With a clenched fist, I tried to cling to everything that would support me in this world, but the tighter I clung the more it all slipped away, until finally I let go, my hands opened and found myself not falling but floating.

Imprinted

I took your hand within my own

And held it softly while you cried

My heart leapt out to dry your tears –

Your pain imprinted on my soul

eavesdropping

rppvroqmr2s-caleb-jones

a young child’s voice speaking to her father breaks my reverie

as I listen from another space

the conversation wrapped

with respect and filled

with love and the

thought floats

through my

mind

i chose the best father for my offspring

Mad Man

Let us

Enjoy the sunsets

Sunrises

Flowers

Blossoms

Petals

Poetry

While we have them

And let us

Sleep soundly at night

Knowing that man has created

Weapons of such mass destruction

That it could reap the kind of horror

Not even imagined in the minds of humanity

And that the codes of such terror

Are held securely in the fist

Of one elected

Mad man

World at War

A relative calm had descended over a world that had started to forget. Soldiers aged, children were born, and their children were born, the soldiers were too scarred to speak about their time in service, their children were shielded from the absolute raw brutality and horror, they did not know and their children did not know, and more children were born, and a certain level of complacency began to settle, making way for a disruptor and dictator to enter the world stage and there were enough of the children born to think he might be a good thing and just what the world needs

  • More hate
  • More racism
  • More intolerance

And the wars that were buried

Had enriched the soil for action

And this time, the stakes were higher, the weapons more evil and more powerful than the world has ever seen or known and over time

The landscape has changed

Ever After

I will believe

In rainbows and roses

And kittens and snowdrops

In silhouette poses

And golden sunflowers

I will believe

That no one can hinder

True joy and laughter

That cruelty and war

And man’s quest for power

Is tied to this world

This natural form

I will believe

That all pain will pass

In a life ever after.
