I wish
When we make friends we could keep them forever
I wish
When feeling sad, it could be waved away like feathers
I wish
When nighttime arrives, my dream will be one to treasure
I wish
When my fingers start to burn, there will be verses to write
I wish
When I feel pain, there will be those who would take the time
I wish
When I have something to share, there will be those who care
I wish
When I kneel to pray, my prayers reach where they need to go
I pray
For happiness and love, and all things good
I wish

as if there are plenty of schools in the world
there is an empty school right here in Sydney
abandoned and not used
reminding us how much
education is key

Feeling Life
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Gut Feeling.”
If an instinct is a feeling
I follow my instinct all the time
For every day in every way
I allow the feeling to lead and guide
If I am in doubt over what to do
Some quietness to get in tune
To what I feel, and never question
How I feel, because therein lies the truth
I have ended friendships, been married, given birth, moved countries, changed jobs, remained at one for many years, I have authored a book and a blog, learning design and soon mobile development, I have questioned others when they have not liked the questions, or the answers or the reply, and I have paid the price of doing so, following one’s instinct is not always the easiest thing to do, there is sometimes pain and pain some more, but it is the only way to go
I live my life by feeling
I write to give my feeling life
Two Sweet Memories
Although they now be
Grown, will never forget two
Sweet babies of mine
In response to The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo prompt: “Gone But Not Forgotten”
MoodBoard
last night I received a job to do
a job I’ve never done before
I had to choose some images
and place them not just randomly
but in their place to make a theme
write a story with no words at all
allow the colors to speak for me –
not something I can do quite easily
(for my life has always been around
numbers, logic, not much creativity
for one day job I have ever known –
the only profession I have filled
has been back-end, getting code to run
connect to banks, and test and fix
look up data and read it back
VXML my speciality)
now a mood board must I create
and where to even start?
so I chose images to choose my words
and speak my story instead of me
there is nature, there is light
there is style, there is life
there is a butterfly and trees
two pins for victory (not double loser pins like we’ve seen before)
And to form a theme, simplicity
building blocks to make a frame
to tie it all together, orange for Passion
not forgetting a few books for Poetry!
What do ya think, is it a pass?
Or should I do another one?

Bunny Tale
My daughter wrote a story
About a bunny feeling sad
He longed to be at a party
Was excluded from the crowd
Another bunny empathized
With bunny feeling sad
He felt his pain of being
Discarded, left alone
So kindness overtook
And bunny number two
Invited him to go along
To join in with the fun
So bunny was included
He was not left alone
He went along and at the end
His feelings were all glad
The End
Style Advice
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Not for Thee.”
Heels and color
Lifechanging advice suggested to me
To be rid of all the blacks and browns
All those greys and cremes
To infuse splashes of color
Into my wardrobe and life
Adding a bit of style
Accenting flair and finesse
So I did, and now I do
But I would not be sharing
That advice to the others in my home
Because my husband is six foot four
I would not want him in heels
Neither my son for that matter
And my daughter is only eight
She can wear flats while she waits
For her own style to arrive!
Thanking Y’all
Every day I read so many
Posts of others that do inspire
I wish, and then I wish some more
That I could write as others do
But as each fingerprint and face
Would reflect the owner’s space
Every blog and every poem –
All the writing and words
Reveal a light behind each form
So not always always knowing
Some author’s faces or names
Even the lands they are from
There is alway a light
Shining forth from the page
Casting a glow
Inspiring the world
And I am blessed
And I feel glad
For what we can give
And what we can share
Giving, receiving
Writing together
Standing together
Thanking y’all!

Taking the opportunity to enjoy a few
Of the writings of mine, a talent I have
Been enjoying for only a few months at most
Not even a year, each word, each thought has been
A comfort to heal, and with a touch of humility
I would like to say thank you to all those who have
Supported, for every like, for every follow, for
Every kind word encouraging, helping me to find
My feet, in a world so dark, drowning, not knowing
Where to escape, how to flee, and my writing has been
Helping me to breathe once more

Captured Dream
This morning when I went to sleep
Past midnight once again
I had a dream so real for me
Coming back so vividly
Allow me to type
So I can capture my dream
Before it vaporizes
And is taken from me
I dreamt of my mother
How she entered my room
She was on a bicycle
Geared up and ready to go
(All those weekly photo challenges
Of wheels and bicycles converging –
Gate crashing my dream)
First time my mother on a bicycle I’ve seen
Knock at the door
And friends waiting to go
Spend some time with my mother
And have themselves a day of fun
I was an onlooker at this little game
My mother acting strangely
Not like my mother would at all
She leaned over to give me a hug
I turned myself away, I’m sorry
No hugs coming your way
Give me back my mother, not one acting so strange
Tell me, where is my mother?
Where has she gone?
