Unpredictability

When I least expected change,
Change turned my life around.

My prayers had ceased, I had
Made peace with fading dreams.

My dreams were dead, my hope
Was lost, my faith was gone.

But with the certainty of
Rising sun and dying night –

The only thing predictable
Is life’s unpredictability.

Night Dreams

Decisions of mine
Every choice I have made
Have all led me here

A silent moment
Alone, having company
Contemplating me

There is no escape!
Wondering what could have been
No door can I see

I long for release!
Echoes of a distant me
Dreaming silently

Nightmare

I dreamt that you were drowning
And there was no way to rescue
I wished that I could save you
But I stood on shaky ground
I wanted you to live
I prayed for your sweet breath
And when I woke I discovered
Your beating heart dead still –

Dreams were no longer dreams
And a nightmare was real

Black Umbrella

image

Tear drops and rain
Run down my face
Leaving me in the
Freezing cold, dark
Umbrella offering
The only shelter
From the storm raging
Outside and within

Journey

image

Angel of light
Angel so bright

Delicate wings
Whispering dreams

Watch over me
Watch over mine

Keep us safe until
Our journey’s fate

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Journey.”

Everywhere I am looking
And I cannot find you anywhere

And when I stop looking
You find me

Guest

The clouds are hanging heavy and low
Like a curtain hiding the guest of the show
The star of the day – our sun and our light
Is held captive, dimming our sight

Voices

I hear voices
In my dreams
And when I wake
Voices soft
And voices still
Voices laughing
Voices shrill
I hold out my hands
To have but a touch
Of voices on surround
But as I do
The voices fade

Into darkness

Leaving me
On my own
Alone

Upward

Standing at a crossroad
Wondering which way to go
I look to my left
I look to my right
I look straight ahead
Right behind
And down below
Then I know
My future is not here
Not now
Not yet
I am where I am
I stand firm
I stand tall
And I look up
