Changing the World
I believe in you and all you can achieve
In your vision and power to change the world
I believe in you – your strength and quiet grace
I believe in you – grow strong and fill your place.
Grow strong and with every step you take
You will prove your will and rise above the crowd
A beating storm will wash away the moody clouds –
Breathe fresh air, intoxicate your lungs, believe.
Oh steely resolve, that stamina I lack but need
Will come to me, in time it will appear
I will believe just as you have taught me so
To change the world, I will love and learn and grow.
Sweep Me Up
I love you my darling
I love you my sweet
I need you to hold me
I need you to sweep –
To sweep me forever
In your hidden charms
To hold me my darling
In your loving arms
I know it’s not easy
I push those away
That dare to tread closely
Or otherwise stray
Away from my touch
Away from my words
But love me my darling
Forever I’m yours
Satellites
Against a naked sky
Satellites
Cut across the void
Oh! – my empty heart
If only truth be told
My love and depth of need –
Unending
Pain and endless tears
I cling to you as best I can
While looking to the stars
So anchored firm and sure
For all those
Times and ages past
Now nothing is the same
Lights and satellites –
Expose the hidden cast
Cracked
It’s just a thin line that appears
So delicate and fine that you wonder if it’s even there
But as you shake your head and clear your eyes
A deeper longer darker crack begins to form
You cannot ignore it anymore
It cannot be wished away
It will not disappear
It’s broken.
Sometimes –
Beyond repair.
Break My Fall
Massage my heart
I plead of thee!
Iron out those pleats
Of pain.
In all my desperation, Lord
I look above and
Search for thee.
I look towards blue skies above
And learn again of thy true love.
Though I may fail and stumble, crawl –
An outstretched hand will
Break my fall.
Nostalgia
Whifts of a long lost scent
Aroused my senses.
We were there, you and I –
In an all too brief
Moment.
I breathed you in without
Thinking and only feeling.
With nostalgia and an
Inexplicable longing
I breathe you out.
Counting Down
I remember
Being so young of age I could count
My years on one of my hands
My teacher was gone for the day
So we joined our classmates next door
My teacher was gone
My safety net for a day
I counted the minutes tick by
I ran out of fingers
And then
I ran
Out of hands.
Butterflies
I’m trying my best
I’m shutting my mind
I’m reading a book
I’m eating sweet cake.
Anything to qualm
These pesky annoying sweet
Butterflies
Flying
Flapping
Flickering
Inside of me.
Silent Stranger
An uninvited
Stranger
Stealthily tiptoed
Across my
Unsuspecting
Vision.
I’m tormented.
