I dream of Sydney
I was there
I was aware
A spark lit up
And I knew
Ohh I knew alright
My heart would never be mine
Again
You will never know
You could never understand

I cannot say why
I want a reason
To try and explain
But every day
Of every struggle that’s past
I’ve been through the wringer
It’s over at last
We have our poetry
Songs of our heart
And upward we look
And onward we march.
One by one
Each leaf unfurls
Invoking the richness of
Scents that reveal the ancient
Secret of the Rose –
Forgotten tomorrow
Unborn yesterday
Today is captured
Until it stealthily
Fades away.
Easy on the eye
Not gonna lie
Your fingers caress the keys
As my eyes caress your face from
Afar but close enough
To feel your warmth and
Bask in the music flowing
Forth
Your voice is butter
I cannot help but
Melt into the night as brief
Hours flow by and short
Minutes tick by
And I
Never want the song to
End.

But these darn nights are hard to bear
I said goodbye you said yours too
My heart was twisted for I knew
Our kisses had finished, one final look –
A single full stop to close the book
