I hear wind in the trees
Whispering secrets to me
I hold them close to my heart
These tales shared carefully
And I know I will never
Find peace like this moment
Of being held close and offered
Treasures forever

By My Side
Comic Act
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “I’d Like to Thank My Cats.”
I’d like to thank my cats
But I don’t have any so instead
I will have to thank the rats
I can hear in the ceiling overhead
The award I do not know
I’ve never put on a show
My singing hurts the ears
Of those who can hear
So these words will have to
Sing a song for me
Your Shadow
At times when sadness overwhelms
And I cannot see past my own tears
Your presence comforts me
Even though we are not together
Your shadow warms my heart and reminds me
We are never apart
Why Do People Lie?
Why do people lie?
Is it because they do not like the truth
Is it because they do not like the question
Is it because they do not like the answer
Is it because it is simply easier to explain
Is it because there is a fear of being judged
Is it because they are afraid of what might be
Is it because they are scared to tell the truth
Is it because it feels the safer option
Tell me, why did you lie to me?

Art of Teaching
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “We Can Be Taught!.”
A great teacher takes the hand of another
And teaches that person to become the future self
That person would like to become one day
You and Me
Soul Singer
So many things I wish I could do better
Dancing and painting and writing love letters
Running and cycling and swimming, all three
But there is one thing I wish I could be
And that is to sing, and be a soul singer
