I woke up this morning and the time included the date 4th of July.
I’ve never wished anyone a happy 4th of July before, because for us in the Southern Hemisphere, it is just another winter’s day. Do people wish each other a happy 4th of July? Peace and love? I am on the outside looking in, but just to say I wish you all the best. Thank you to those who have shown me so much kindness. And be safe.

I looked for love
Not realizing that you were right there
I looked past you
Seeking a happiness that couldn’t be found
You watched me
While I scanned my surroundings
You held my hand
When I ached for contact
I brushed it away
As if it had never happened
And when I cried
You wiped my tears
So gently that I never noticed
And then
In a sudden moment
My eyes opened
I saw
I realized
I noticed
Rose-colored petals
Forming, flowering, falling
Delicate beauty
From the mountains
And the plains
My life is yours to use
Surround me with
Your colors bright
I feel my need for you
I loved you
For all the wrong reasons
I loved you perhaps
For the very reason that
I couldn’t have you
You would never be mine
I loved you because
You were so different
To those I had loved before
I loved you mostly
Because my heart overruled
I love you now
If only because
My heart still does
Blank paper
Blinks its virgin lines
Taunting me to defile
An untouched page
Red lights separate
Me from home, darkness descends –
I travel alone
Emerging from the deep –
Eyes
In another mould
Pattern of creation
Replicated
Sweetest words
Whispered in my ear
Enraptured by your charm –
Slippery sliding snake
Under the moonlight
You wrapped me in your arms
Amidst the dark
We admired stars
The world became
Just you and me
The setting sun bare witness
As suddenly
I caught my breath
I felt your lips upon
My hungry skin
Pulling me into you –
I melted
