There were times I loved you
There were times I feared
There were times I knew to quickly
Disappear
There were tears and smiles and hugs
And joy
There were all the gifts you bought to share
You were my dad, the father I knew
And now you are gone, my sorrow is strong
I remember your hugs, your voice and your
Care
I am your daughter, your flesh and your
Song.

Your eyes pierce the night
Shining lights to lead the way –
I am yours to keep.

Dare to be happy don’t shy away
Reach out and touch the joy of today
Life is for living, give it a try
Open your heart to that sun in the sky.
Dare to be loving and trusting and true
Treasure the hours with those close to you
Dare to be kind it’s more fun than you know
Give joy to others and watch your own grow.
Dare to admit all your blessings and then
Every day count them all over again
Dare to be happy and don’t be afraid
This is the day God willfully made.
A few short breaths
Here on earth
Before our life is past
Time flies swiftly
Vaporizing
Make each moment last

Losing my grip I stumble and fall
Sink in further to the abyss of the deadliest
Dream
Faltering I open my hands
Allow myself to be swept away in mires of
Dusty clay
Night looms large it’s towering presence
Cowers me
I’ll hide until the unwavering sun ushers in a
Forgiving day.

On the other side lies an unseen
Day
Beckoning hope and promising
Future
Of stars a-glitter and full moons;
Suns of gold and a whispering morn
Night separates here from there
Dark from light
A freezing winter from fall.
Dreams,
Transport me!
Carry me safely
Hold me tenderly
Deliver me to the other
Side.

Boxes, little boxes
Lock and strangle us
In this world where all is pain
Find the freedom to be free
I’ve been searching
Scrambling, struggling
Fighting every blinding tree
It has happened, godsend blessing
A perfect fitting form for me
I will not waste, I will not want
I will say thank you and
Amen.
I have to believe
I have to see
That the future is holding out
All that is good
All that is good for me
I cling and I fall
I swing and after all
I get back up again
Punch me once
Punch me twice
I will – I will overcome.

Strangers have a lot to say
Unkind words thrown straight at me
I felt them fly I felt them fall
Right at my feet and there they lay
I just stood calm and let them come
Surveyed the crumbs across my way
I decided there and then
And one by one
To carefully collect them all
From those words thrown at my face
I weaved myself a crown of
Grace.
