Vonita

Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, I am now based in Sydney, Australia.

About me – I love writing poetry. It makes me happy. I even love reading poetry, it makes me happy too. I have since written a book. It is the passion of my heart.

During the day, I write code. It keeps me busy. And I have an Etsy shop too, yay!  https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/passionthroughpoetry

Vonita presents The Light
(my first ever poem)

Kindly put to music and performed by Maria Panova.

When all around is dark
And all you know is night
Feel the hope within
And move towards the light

When sadness overwhelms
And you have lost your sight
A few gentle steps
Moving towards the light

When wounds begin to heal
We sense that near delight
Stirs our waking heart
Embracing inner light

When happiness is found
And all is calm and bright
Ever keep on reaching
Onwards towards the light

    1. Hi Casey, thank you, there should be a little white “follow” button on the bottom right-hand side. In saying that though, I will add a more obvious follow widget in coming days, will let you know when done! Thank you so much, Vonita.

    1. Thank you, unfortunately the profile pic is a bit dated – 13 years ago it will be this coming Monday 🙂 I’ve tried writing prose but get irritated reading back my own thoughts, whereas with poetry it can be re-read and still bring pleasure. So poetry it is! Good meeting you, Vonita 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words, what I’ve realized quite strongly is that everyone has their own style of writing that is personal to themselves, much like fingerprints, I often wish to write more like others that I enjoy here on WordPress, but then remind myself again of the uniqueness of each one’s writing. Thank you again, and looking forward to being across yours too!

Thank you for following my blog – yours is wonderful. I came across your blog and was wondering if you wanted to feature on a new blog that I will be starting once i get enough stories to create the blog. It will be a blog about real bloggers & their stories it’s a similar take on the “humans of” pages but this one will be specifically for bloggers with your permission of course. now you can tell me whatever it is about yourself that you want the world to know I will then edit the story and place it on the blog page with your choice of photo and you have the option of placing your blog on the story so others can follow you. for more details you can simply reply to this or email me at princezzpinkzteam@hotmail.com

  5. Vonita, I just read some of your poems, they are absolutely beautiful. I sent you two emails last night but they just won’t go through. Are you on Facebook by any chance? I could send you a private message there.

    1. Hi Irina, thank you so much! Most of my book poetry has been removed from my blog (or never been posted here), have been trying to keep them separate, but haven’t removed all. So there will be a few that my readers will recognize. The deign and images will all be unique though. I received your email about the ALC and replied to that. I am in Facebook under my personal account Vonnie Buirski, you should be able to see me there! Will look for you too. Thank you 🙂 Vonita.

      1. Understandable. It’s difficult trying to maintain this blog and other social media outlets while trying to work on writing and get through life. I don’t know what you’re going through, but I can relate to having limited time. Regardless, though, I enjoy your poetry.

  6. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! In awe about the fact you live in Sydney! I’m from Chicago and it’s so crazy how someone from a whole different country can see what I do! Keep up your great work btw 🙂

  7. Thank you for the follow. In my humble opinion you have the most important ingredient necessary to write poetry: passion. And your first verse? Brilliant! Mine at about 5 years old was “eyes like a hawk, ears like a fox, legs like a dear to run through the year”

      1. It’s not the same anymore, as I am sure you know, so we might say you are the lucky one? Aw, I don’t know though – like you say, Africa is in the blood, really and sometimes I want to leave and other times I can’t imagine it. Nice to meet another Jo’burger on here 🙂

      2. Yes, I went back in April, and everything was so familiar and vibrant in parts. My family is still there. But the longer we are away, the more we are glad that we have relocated, and that it is behind us. I still read news24, and the you magazine when I can! 🙂
