Hand-Crafted

The pain and whippings and self-flagellation our minds can inflict on our own selves is greater than any mountain we dare to conjure up.

At times like these, when our suffering is deep and sore and painful, it is wise to acknowledge our own lack of mercy and rather instead, to wrap our selves in love.

Because we were created. We were hand-crafted.

And while we still breath, we are life.

Ever After

I will believe

In rainbows and roses

And kittens and snowdrops

In silhouette poses

And golden sunflowers

I will believe

That no one can hinder

True joy and laughter

That cruelty and war

And man’s quest for power

Is tied to this world

This natural form

I will believe

That all pain will pass

In a life ever after.

Finding the Light

The news arrived
Suddenly and unexpectedly
The pain of another
Crossing time and space
Across the miles
Emotions travel
I feel sorrow
I feel sadness
I feel hopeless
I feel privileged
I feel blessed
I feel conflicted
I feel loved
I feel empty
I wonder why
What is it for?
Where does it end?
And how? Please tell me how
To feel joy in the light of
Sinking ships
Lives dying
Lives suffering
Bodies paining
Bodies drowning
I do not know
How to start
Finding the light

Earthly Chains

image

My heart is sore
At the agony of this world
Bound to an earthly realm
We are bound to an earthly pain
While choirs of angels sing
Heralding a new embrace
My eyes cry tears

Injustice

image

It is not funny
When words are said
Deliberately to cause pain
It is not funny
When injured by those
Who could be showing love
It is not funny
When a country turns off
Lights because there is no power
It is not funny
When denied a job solely
Based on the color of your skin
It is not funny
When there is no work
For a younger generation born
It is not funny
When all around is pain
And death and rape and suffering
It is not funny
Why would anyone want to laugh?
