Only a sliver
Of a membrane
Exposing flesh to a
Brutal environment, with perseverance
The membrane hardened
To become the most
Exquisite
Shell
An invisible hand
Keeps me safe
From all the world around.
I am kept
And I am loved
By heaven’s light above.
For all my failings
Weaknesses and more
You are my strength
The one that I adore
I am your child
So Lord I pray
Walk beside me
Watch over me today
Bad news happened
No words to comfort
No songs of joy to sing
Only a storm that began
To fall its raindrop tears –
I pray for shelter from all pain
But if I am caught unsheltered in the rain
Please, dear Lord, shelter me under your wing
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Places.”
I would be
Under a tree
So I can sit in it’s shadow
Listening to the song of the birds
And the wind as it whispers its
Silent secrets softly
To me
