I made a vow
To serve my Lord
I made another –
A lifelong song
My steps, they falter
Along the way
But still, my heart
Cries out to Thee
My Father, Saviour
Lord of all
I kneel before Thee
Rescue me
I made a vow
To serve my Lord
I made another –
A lifelong song
My steps, they falter
Along the way
But still, my heart
Cries out to Thee
My Father, Saviour
Lord of all
I kneel before Thee
Rescue me
Darkness
On my shoulders
Darkness
Consuming
Darkness
Controlling
Darkness
Dictating
The heaviness
Weighs down
I kneel and
Through my prayer
Light shines
Beyond my confusion, doubt and fear
I know there is a higher power watching over me
I am not left alone, for in the stillness of my heart
My heavenly Saviour ever does draw near
Angel of light
Angel so bright
Delicate wings
Whispering dreams
Watch over me
Watch over mine
Keep us safe until
Our journey’s fate
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Journey.”
My life is a desert
No water to be found
My well has run dry –
Fading hope has died.
I kneel before thee
My Savior and King
Plead for living waters –
To quench my soul’s deep
Need.

From depths of despair
My heart cries out
When all is hopeless
I find my hope
My tears are dried
My joy returns
Songs of praise
Sound loud and true
I sink to my knees
My Lord, my God –
I Love Thee!

All joys this earth could bring
The depths of endless sea
Wind in sheltering trees
Could never separate
Thy child from Thy grace
I feel Thy presence
Surrounding me
Whispering
I am protected
I am loved
Safe, at
Peace
Bad news happened
No words to comfort
No songs of joy to sing
Only a storm that began
To fall its raindrop tears –
I pray for shelter from all pain
But if I am caught unsheltered in the rain
Please, dear Lord, shelter me under your wing
I turn to the sun
And see brightness and light
I look within
And feel courage and life
In the depths of despair
I hold out my arms
And am gently lifted
From the dark well surrounds
To the higher, brighter
Sun-drenched place
Of life, and light, and safety
