If I stuttered and stammered
And squirmed my way through
Every conversation we may have had
Could it still be possible

My open wound
Has sealed
The pain inside
Has healed
The scars
Remain
But I’m still
Sane

Roller coaster life
Buckle up and enjoy the ride
From the time I awake until the night
I’m guided by an inner light
That transports me to joys so bright
Flying me on wings of dizzying height
Then dipping low and causing fright
Lurching, flying, moving, crying
My soul is on an emotional flight
To be, to have, to think, to move
All parts that work for good
But above all of these, there is but one
A higher, deeper, lower, greater
Depth to me and this would be
I feel
This is my humanity
Today
I will pick myself up
Dust myself off
Lift my chin off the ground
Tomorrow
I will do it all over again
Friday
I will sip wine and have fun
from an unexpected source
I received kindness
when I least expected it
Butterfly colony
Fluttering their wings
In symphonic harmony
I cannot sleep
I cannot eat
I cannot think
Where’s the music?
Let it flow
Calming, gentle, classical
I cannot sleep

Soothe my nerves, and calm my mind
Because I have butterflies
Feasting on my adrenaline
I cannot sleep

Musical notes fly into my soul
Be gentle, be soft, be firm
And kiss these butterfly wings away

hoping there will be a hand
to take hold of mine
A frail, fragile ego
Follows me wherever I go
I long to be free
But I have a shadow
Following me
When love dies
Hope for tomorrow disappears
When hope dies
The joy you brought evaporates
When joy dies
The drive that spurned me on is gone
Replaced with a knife
Cutting through my heart so cruel
Leaving shards of glass
To splinter, tear and ruin
When love dies
My smile, my hope, my joy dies too

My dreams were dead, my hope
