Over the edge, submitting to
The power that will take it
Where nothing is
Promised but
The earth

In seasons past we sat and talked
About life and death and everything
We spoke about the future and we laughed
Enraptured by what we both had found
Never enough, always wanting more
Our virgin hearts so unafraid
Of hurt or pain of going there
Oh! How my heart bleeds in my chest
When all I see now is an empty chair
I’m scared
Of so many things
I’m scared
Of not being needed
I’m scared
Of not being able to cope
I’m scared
Of going back to corporate life
But most of all
I’m scared
Of losing you
I hold out my hand
And offer you light
I hold out my heart
And offer you love
As fragile as a
Spider’s web—dandelion’s
Vulnerability
Bracing the cold
I confront my fears
As I look onwards
To a future unknown
Branches etch across the sky
As rays of light weave their way
Into the darkness of my life
Warming the broken vessels of my
Heart
I loved you in the dark
I loved you in the light
I loved the whole of you
All through the blackened night
