Splinters of orange
Crack apart the sleeping night –
Gray morphs into day
I dream about a new day
When night is passed
And I can follow dreams
City lights switch on
Like stars in the night that we
Can no longer see
Red lights separate
Me from home, darkness descends –
I travel alone
Under the moonlight
You wrapped me in your arms
Amidst the dark
We admired stars
The world became
Just you and me
The setting sun bare witness
As suddenly
I caught my breath
I felt your lips upon
My hungry skin
Pulling me into you –
I melted
I woke up
Alone and cold
With the torment
Of your eyes
Appealing to my
Unguarded senses
No escape
Even in the dead
Of the night
I close my eyes inviting the dream world to claim me for its own and pray that I will be transported to a land of freedom and peace and joy and that tomorrow I may have rest
Crickets chirp below
As a plane crosses the clouds
Purring as it goes
The night shines beauty
Onto the most elegant
Of nature’s free gifts
