Never Been To Me

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Mix Tape Masterpiece.”

Hey, you know what paradise is?
It’s a lie, a fantasy we create about people and places as we’d like them to be
But you know what truth is?
It’s that little baby you’re holding, it’s that man you fought with this morning
The same one you’re going to make love with tonight
That’s truth, that’s love

Charlene – I’ve never been to me

Feeling thankful
For all that we have
For all that we are
For all that we’ve been given
Friends, family, faith and life
Blessings freely shared

To Change (or Not)

The battle between comfort or change
Is simply won – if the comfort is too comfortable
Than to risk being more uncomfortable, it wins.

However, if the comfort is slightly more uncomfortable
Than a comfort zone ought to be, it loses.

And it is really is as simple as that.

Our Essence

Nothing matters
After this life has passed
Choices, choosing, living, crying
We are rushing to that moment
One moment when the cord of life
Is snapped and all that we are
Here and now, all that we know
Will be wiped away
Leaving our flesh as dust
And the life we lived
As memories in those that remain

Birthday Balloons

Today I offer myself balloons
To celebrate life and love and health
And to be kind to myself
On the day I’m celebrating
My birthday

Bracing the Cold

image

Making my way down the lane
Bracing the cold and the wind and the rain
Keeping my head down and staring at my shoes
You watched me as I bustled on by
There was no mistaking your voice
Startled out of my reverie –
I looked up, and drowned in your eyes

Setting Sun

Setting Sun

Born for eternity
Bound for one
Endless shore
Life is passing
Death approaching
The day once over
Will pass our way
No more
