Red Heels

The bus was crowded
Standing, pushing, holding on
You were seated, sitting, resting
When I climbed on with the throng
We have been together
You and I
In nights and days
That since have passed
Heels no comfort offered
As I stood and rode along
You smiled and greeted
Remained seated
As I stood standing
Amongst the crowd
Alone

Style Advice

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Not for Thee.”

Heels and color
Lifechanging advice suggested to me
To be rid of all the blacks and browns
All those greys and cremes
To infuse splashes of color
Into my wardrobe and life
Adding a bit of style
Accenting flair and finesse
So I did, and now I do
But I would not be sharing
That advice to the others in my home
Because my husband is six foot four
I would not want him in heels
Neither my son for that matter
And my daughter is only eight
She can wear flats while she waits
For her own style to arrive!
