I gave you flowers once
When you were sick and the world thought you might die
You never died but your memory went
Leaving no remembrance of what ever happened
I wasn’t sick
So my memory stayed
And I remember
I read some words
Transporting me to worlds anew
And when the words came to an end
My world was different than before
But yet, it was still the same
Unchanged, just as it had
Always been
I write to be free
I write because there are words inside of me
I write for comfort
I write for love
I write for joy
I write for peace
I write for me and if it can be a help
I am glad if my words can grow their wings
And fly to be where they need to be
The headline caught my eye
I stopped to read the words
Little boy and his friend
Aged two and a few days
Fell to their eternal dream
The phone rang in the night
I answered to hear your voice
Your son and his friend
Popped into my mind
And I knew
