About me – I love writing poetry. It makes me happy. I even love reading poetry, it makes me happy too. I have since written a book. It is the passion of my heart.

During the day, I write code. It keeps me busy. And I have an Etsy shop too, yay!  https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/passionthroughpoetry

Vonita presents The Light
(my first ever poem)

Kindly put to music and performed by Maria Panova.

When all around is dark
And all you know is night
Feel the hope within
And move towards the light

When sadness overwhelms
And you have lost your sight
A few gentle steps
Moving towards the light

When wounds begin to heal
We sense that near delight
Stirs our waking heart
Embracing inner light

When happiness is found
And all is calm and bright
Ever keep on reaching
Onwards towards the light

    1. Hi, thank you for listening to the song, it was a surprise for me as I am writing a book and asked my family to review, and next thing a kind member put my first poem to music to encourage me. Thank you for the follow, look forward to being across your work too!

    1. Hi, thank you so much, your blog looks really interesting. I have spent s couple of days in Lesotho and it is so beautiful there, the local people so friendly. It is amazing how different it felt to south africa, even though it is contained within South Africa. As mentioned in my about bio I was born and raised in South Africa, so close to my heart. It was my dream to go to thornybush as per one of your photos, but alas it hasn’t happened. Good meeting you, Vonita 🙂

    1. Hi Helene, thank you for stopping by, good to be across your blog too. I really enjoyed the autumn leaves photo, was thinking about the different colors of leaves and maybe I should try and take a photo of one, and there you have done it for me 🙂 pleased to meet you! Vonita

    1. Hi Le (and David), thank you for stopping by, I love your three wise monkeys project! Are they easy to find? Have you any from South Africa (my home country?) we have been in Sydney for seven years now and love it! I will try to keep at the poetry, each poem is a gift to me so I cannot take any future unwritten ones for granted, for now I am letting the words flow! And see where it takes me 🙂

      1. We tend to stumble across the 3 wise monkeys without even having to vigorously look for them. They seem to appear in window displays or at markets most of the time. They have managed to elude us in some countries 🙂

We have not been to South Africa but it on our list. Maybe one day when we get there, we can try and track one down!

Glad to hear that you love Sydney… we are very lucky to live here, aren’t we?

Hope you had a lovely weekend.

PS – And with the poetry, I (Le) dabble in poetry occasionally but find that when I don’t focus or try too hard to come up with something, that is when the words do flow.

  1. Thank you for following our blog. Through our photography and words we hope to inspire others to get out and see the world. And perhaps through those travels the world will become a smaller and less threatening place as we discover the many kindred spirits who share our passions, hopes and aspirations. As Mark Twain said, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.”

It’s never too early or late to discover and follow your heart. Make time for the people, work, and causes you truly care about. Cheers, Wooly and Raeski.

  3. I have an ex-brother-in-law who lives somewhere on the outskirts of Sidney, an ex-patriot from the USA.

Welcome to the the slow pull of the poetry eddy. I’m not a poet either, but when the words and unction are unavoidable, and when lines of verse scroll through my mind at 2 in the morning, I put them down. More of a short story writer.

Thank you for visiting my online writing studio, and for choosing to follow my work. I trust you will find something of interest to the mind as well as the heart.

  4. Hello Vonita,
I was wondering if you would like to participate in “A Tour Through BlogLand” or also known as the “Virtual Blog Tour Award”?

If you accept, it is a single post that you would write on Monday the 19 of January 2015.

    The rules:
    1. Pass the tour on up to four other bloggers. Give them the rules and a specific Monday to post.
    2. Answer four questions about your creative process which lets other bloggers and visitors know what inspires you to do what you do:
•What am I working on at the moment?
•How does my work differ to others in my genre?
    •Why do I write/create what I do?
•How does my writing/creative process work?
    3. Compose a one-time post on a specific Monday (date given from your nominator).

Mine will be up on the January 5, 2015.

    1. Okay let’s do it just for fun, 19th January is my anniversary, but that’s okay I’ll prepare it beforehand. Btw, may I add the friendship tree to the last page of my book please? I will be including references (and links in the ebook to everyone’s blogs). I don’t have a creative process I just allow the words to spew forth, they are glad to have somewhere to land. My husband, however, is complaining about all the Google plus spam due to publicize. Uncircle me then was my reply 😀

  5. Hello – thanks for following my blog. I’m always intrigued when someone with a STEM background also writes – it can make for some very interesting writing! I’ll be on a bit of a hiatus in January, but I look forward to visiting your blog and catching up with you!

  6. Wow! What a journey from one half of the brain to the other.

If I can ever help you get your works out into the world with my abilities I would be honored to do so.

    Thanks!
