I played with fire
Attracted by the light
Moving closer
I could feel the heat
Taking chances
I played the game
Before I knew it
The fire burnt

So many nights
I wished you to stay
In so many dreams
You visited me
But now I’m awake
And the night is still young
You are alive
Though our dreaming is done
I wish you well
I wish you life
I wish you happiness
And no more strife
It is me that must say
It was I who was Eve
You were my Adam
I wave you farewell

A blank screen
Reflects its silence
To a waiting world
Challenging the brave
To fill its void
Writers write
And so it shall be
The darkness devoid
Of warmth
Will be brought
To life

With painted lips
I taste your being
With delicate hands
I feel you grow
With open eyes
I admire your desire
Hold me
Love me
Never let me go
For my heart is but
Porcelain
In your hold

Surfing the space
Between dreams
And reality
Surfacing from night
As morning dew appears
Two worlds connect –
Free spirit and
Earthly mind
In response to Daily Post: Connection

Look!
I’ve caught a poem –
Crept up on it quietly
And caught it in a net of words.
Open the lines gently and set it free,
That it may fly
Into the minds
Of those who pass,
So they may say,
Of something that makes them stop
To look and wonder,
Or to laugh or cry,
“I read a poem about this once-
Someone else has felt like me.”
Poem by Anne Bell
You called me lass
So many times
Terms of endearment
Or so you thought
But not once
Did you ever
Whisper
Even softly
My name
Somewhere along the way
I changed from a young child
Into a woman
And observe with melancholy
Love and sadness
As the fruits of my womb
Do the same

Dreams and wishes
Filled my world
My hopes
My mind
Until they faded
Like balloons floating
High into the sky
Out of vision
Out of sight
