Goodbye office
Goodbye deadlines
Goodbye java
Goodbye springboot
Hello Indesign
Hello home office
Hello writing
Hello holidays!
Time slipping through my fingers
Being released and flying far away
Just as I would lift my eyes to
Watch as a balloon floats
Higher, smaller into the skies
Until it can be seen no more
So does my time fly further from me
Until there is no more left
To do the things I need to do
And all that remains
Are memories of a faded day
(I need to write a software system by Tuesday, and am not very far in progress. I may be offline on the weekend #becausefocus)
Words create worlds
And so I’ve learnt
What we say, what we mean
Is expressed so easily
By those words we would speak
So speak wisely, act wisely
There is responsibility
In having the power to write
In having a voice
Writers unite
In writing a world
Where words could create
Worlds in which we would
Want to reside
Worlds meeting worlds
Souls meeting souls
Connecting together
On this journey of life
If I may offend
If I may speak or write
Without diplomacy
Or magical tact
Don’t turn from me
Have empathy
For if I realise
What I may have said
I would feel remorse
Would want to make amends
Because your friendship
Means more to me than defence
At times it is wise
For writers to sit on their hands
I have found how easy it can be to
Write without filter, without thought or care
Of the power my words may carry and travel
Throughout the globe, hearts connected
When damage is done, to try and amend
But the record is there, no
Backtracking can always be
Done, no apologies can
Always be made, and so
It is time for me to
Be wise, and to
Exercise some
Wisdom for
Words I
Would
Write
Because words have power
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Recently Acquired.”
Words create worlds
And so I’ve learnt
What we think
Becomes our reality
Stronger and stronger
I can feel myself grow
From hiding, low self esteem
Darkness, depression
To growth and strength
And love and light
What we share can touch
The hearts of others
What I’ve learnt about blogging
Is the power of words
Although they now be
Grown, will never forget two
Sweet babies of mine
In response to The Daily Post’s Weekly Photo prompt: “Gone But Not Forgotten”
Every day I read so many
Posts of others that do inspire
I wish, and then I wish some more
That I could write as others do
But as each fingerprint and face
Would reflect the owner’s space
Every blog and every poem –
All the writing and words
Reveal a light behind each form
So not always always knowing
Some author’s faces or names
Even the lands they are from
There is alway a light
Shining forth from the page
Casting a glow
Inspiring the world
And I am blessed
And I feel glad
For what we can give
And what we can share
Giving, receiving
Writing together
Standing together
Thanking y’all!

Taking the opportunity to enjoy a few
Of the writings of mine, a talent I have
Been enjoying for only a few months at most
Not even a year, each word, each thought has been
A comfort to heal, and with a touch of humility
I would like to say thank you to all those who have
Supported, for every like, for every follow, for
Every kind word encouraging, helping me to find
My feet, in a world so dark, drowning, not knowing
Where to escape, how to flee, and my writing has been
Helping me to breathe once more

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “An Extreme Tale.”
It was the best of times
It was the worst of times
Thinking of these lines
First thoughts in my mind –
I hate it, I love it
When web services do not work
It can bring me to my knees
Why oh why oh please!
Troubleshoot and analyze
Sleep a luxury, no time to eat
Life comes to a halt
Because I have code that doesn’t run!
Managers, deadlines, clients
Breathing down my neck
We have a plan, don’t you know
Yeah I know, and I have code that doesn’t run!
What to do, what to do?
Calm down, breathe, make some tea
I have no time to sleep
Until finally
Sweet finally
After days and nights
Tears and strife
A few changes here and there
And we have success!
Oh sweet code, alive
I have a result!
Tears of joy, fall to my knees
Highs and lows
Moods and swings
Roller coaster work
Roller coaster life
