Rejection hurts
Even when I pretend it doesn’t
Even when I laugh it off
Brush my jacket clean
Have a bath
Drink some tea
Read lines of poetry
And still
In those quiet moments
In the deepest of hearts
I crave love
I crave belonging
I crave acceptance
And rejection
Hurts
Poems and Petals
