I tell myself what I should feel
I tell myself what I should think
What I should do
What I should say
How I should act
And myself turns
The other way
It is like I never
Told myself
Anything
At all
I tell myself what I should feel
I tell myself what I should think
What I should do
What I should say
How I should act
And myself turns
The other way
It is like I never
Told myself
Anything
At all
That means we listen to others.
I too wrote a self-help poem in response to this prompt but my fellow bloggers contradicted this and made me see the importance of having a mentor.

Maybe you realize there is no self that does or says anything to anybody! Then you’re free.

Sorry, my phone decided to act up lol. I was going to say:
Mmm, great show of cognitive dissonance. I love your writing. This poem makes me think of my “Self Therapy” post. 😀

Thank you for reading my writing. I’m not really liking myself at the moment, my blog is my therapy 🙂 I will look up your post! 🙂

I think it is because sometimes we need to listen to what our self and the world is telling us instead of letting our mind do the talking. I really like this

This reminds me of the quote from “Alice in Wonderland”: “I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it.” =) So true.
